When Pauley Perrette left “NCIS” in 2018, she and Mark Harmon were not on good terms. Although Perrette and CBS initially played it cool when the fan favorite’s abrupt departure was first announced, with both Perrette and the network issuing positive statements about her 15-year run on the show.
It was later revealed that Perrette and Harmon had a massive falling out over a dog bite, which resulted in Perrette leaving her role as forensic scientist Abigail “Abby” Sciuto.
Fans of “NCIS” may recall that Perrette sent a heartfelt tweet to her co-stars after filming her final scene in April 2018. “I just finished filming my final scene for ‘NCIS’ with @SeanHMurray, @BrianDietzen, @EmilyWickersham, and @WValderrama.
It premieres on May 8th. I adore you all!!! “She tweeted about it at the time, along with four selfies with each of her cast members.
Around the same time, the network issued a statement. “For over 15 years, Pauley has been a valued member of both NCIS and the CBS family,” CBS and CBS TV Studios said in a joint statement to Deadline.
“While saying goodbye to a beloved actress and character is never easy, we respect her decision to leave at the end of the season. We are grateful to Pauley for all of her contributions to the series and for making Abby one of television’s most unique characters.”
Pauley claims she was fired because she spoke out against Mark.
The short-lived love fest came to an end in May 2018, following statements from Pauley Perrette and CBS, when Perrette shared a series of sh0ck1ng tweets about her time on the set of “NCIS.”
“I refused to go low, which is why I’ve never told anyone about what happened. However, there are tabloid articles out there that tell complete lies about me “Perrette posted a tweet. Perrette then said in a second tweet that she had kept quiet about certain things in order to “protect my crew, jobs, and so many people.”
She continued, “A’machine’ is keeping me silent and spreading FALSE stories about me. A very wealthy and powerful publicity “machine.” There are no morals, no responsibilities to the truth, and I’m just left here, reading the lies and trying to protect my crew. Trying to stay calm. He completed the task.”
Perrette even posted a message about “multiple physical assaults” before The Wrap reported that her feud with Mark Harmon began after his dog bit a crew member, requiring 15 stitches, and he then allowed the animal back on set. Perrette reportedly complained to the network about the incident, and she later confirmed she would never consider returning to the show.
Vanity Fair published a deleted tweet from Perrette in which she claimed she was “physically assaulted” and “lost [her] job” after speaking out.
