And for Adriana Iliescu, that moment came at the age of 66, making her the world’s oldest mother. Her story is not only remarkable but also serves as a reminder of the boundless love a mother has for her child.

Adriana’s journey to motherhood was not an easy one. In her younger years, she was forced to abort her baby due to medical reasons and was later abandoned by her husband. But she never lost hope. After completing her doctorate, she knew in her heart that she was ready to have a child. However, in vitro fertilization was not yet available in Romania.

It wasn’t until Adriana turned 57 that in vitro fertilization became an option for her. She underwent treatment, and in 2005, Adriana gave birth to her daughter Eliza. Although the pregnancy started with triplets, only Eliza survived. She was born prematurely and spent a significant amount of time in the NICU. But with Adriana’s unwavering love and care, Eliza grew into a strong and vibrant little girl.

Adriana faced criticism and judgment from those around her. People questioned her decision and labeled it as immoral. But Adriana knew deep in her heart that Eliza was a gift from God. She saw her daughter as a blessing and was determined to be the best mother she could be.

Now, 17 years later, Adriana and Eliza share an unbreakable bond. Despite the challenges and misconceptions they face as a result of their age difference, they thrive as a loving family. Adriana, at the age of 83, continues to work on her writing and has published over 25 books for children. She remains healthy and even works as a part-time lecturer in Bucharest. Adriana may look like a great-grandma, but her energy and love for her daughter are that of a young woman.

To ensure Eliza’s future is secure, Adriana made arrangements with the doctor who helped her conceive. He will be Eliza’s godfather and legal guardian if anything happens to Adriana. This decision shows Adriana’s dedication to her daughter’s well-being and happiness.

As for Eliza, she is an exceptional young girl who is excelling academically. She dreams of pursuing higher education and following in her mother’s academic footsteps. Despite the opinions of others, Eliza is a happy, well-rounded individual, thanks to her mother’s devotion and love.
