Actor Kenneth Mitchell, known for his roles in beloved franchises like “Star Trek: Discovery” and “Captain Marvel,” has passed away at the age of 49 after bravely battling ALS. Mitchell’s family announced the sad news on social media, expressing their deep sorrow over the loss of a beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, and friend.
Mitchell’s career spanned diverse roles, from an Olympic hopeful to an apocalypse survivor, astronaut, superhero’s father, and various Star Trek characters. Yet, his most cherished role was as a family man. He was a devoted husband to Susan and a proud father to Lilah and Kallum, finding immense joy in his family life. His family highlighted his dedication and hard work, particularly as a father, despite the challenges of his later disabilities.

Diagnosed with ALS in 2018, Mitchell faced the progressive disease with courage. By 2019, he began using a wheelchair and publicly shared his health struggles in 2020. Mitchell’s passing has deeply impacted the “Star Trek” community, where he portrayed multiple Klingon characters on “Star Trek: Discovery” and voiced roles in “Star Trek: Lower Decks.” The Star Trek family conveyed condolences to Mitchell’s loved ones and fans worldwide.
