After 14 seasons of solving cr1mes on the west coast, the NCIS Los Angeles team will say goodbye to fans later this year.
Eric Christian Olsen, LL Cool J, Daniela Ruah, Chris O’Donnell, and the rest of the NCIS Los Angeles cast have learned that the show’s current season will be its final. In a devastating blow to fans, executives have decided that now is the time to give the cast and characters the send-off they deserve, with a May 14 finale date set. Since the news broke, several members of the show’s cast have openly expressed their feelings.
Caleb Castille, who plays Devin Roundtree on NCIS: Los Angeles, was among the first to take to social media following the announcement.
“Incredibly sad about the news that @NCISLA will not be returning to give you guys another season, but man what an amazing accomplishment,” he wrote on Twitter….There are 14 seasons!
His co-star and colleague LL Cool J also expressed gratitude for his time on the show.
“This NCIS Crossover was a huge success!” he wrote. After 14 seasons, now is the time to wrap up @NCISLA on a high note!
“I am excited to continue working with @CBSTVStudios. They participated in our Series B round and became a strategic partner with @RockTheBells—exciting things are on the way!”
Daniela Ruah of Kensi Blye shared a series of photos from previous seasons on her Instagram.
“From season 1 to season 14, from 24 yrs old to 39, it has been an absolute dream,” she captioned the collage.
“There are so many emotions to process and so many words to say. I’ll save them for another time… I’m so thankful to be a part of the NCIS LA family.
“The show has lasted this long because of all of you,” Ruah continued, before signing off with a heart emoji.
Ruah’s on-screen husband, Marty Deeks, played by Eric Christian Olsen, kept his farewell message brief and understated.
“What a spectacular journey we all shared,” Olsen wrote on Instagram to his millions of followers.
The show is currently on a brief hiatus, with season 14 not expected to return to CBS until February.
However, with the news breaking, fans will undoubtedly want to know why the series was canceled.
“I want to thank both the network and studio for their partnership and support over the years; Shane Brennan for giving us such a great playground; and my partners John P Kousakis, Frank Military, Kyle Harimoto, and Andrew Bartels for their tireless efforts and collaboration episode after episode,” executive producer and showrunner R Scott Gemmill said in a statement.
“Our crew has grown to be a true family, and their hard work and dedication has been fundamental to our success year after year.
“My deepest gratitude to the cast members, who have brought our characters to life with their impassioned performances – thank you for your talent, professionalism and continuous enthusiasm.
“And thank you to our devoted viewers who adored our characters and followed their adventures.
“We are excited to bring the series to a close that is both satisfying and true to these beloved characters.”
