NCIS Special Agent Kate Todd, portrayed by Sasha Alexander, played a crucial role in the show’s early years, and her departure was not always predetermined, according to an NCIS supervisor.
Kate joined the team in the first episode, impressing Leroy Gibbs and becoming an essential member. However, her character met a tragic end in Season 2 when she was shot by Mossad Agent Ari Haswari.
To commemorate NCIS’s 20th anniversary, executive producer Mark Horowitz revealed that an alternate scene for Kate’s departure was planned, and an alternate conclusion was shot to keep it a secret from the audience. Sasha Alexander has continued her career with roles in various projects, including Mission: Impossible III, Shameless, Rizzoli and Isles, Law & Order SVU, and The Morning Show.
